Mathias sighed again, leaning back against the wall as he waited for Gilbert to return. He debated on going to join him, but decided against it. He’d already seemed pretty pissed when he’d stormed off, and if it was concerning their leader’s rogue son then no doubt he’d be in a less than good mood too.

He’d just have to wait where he was.

After talking to his father, he stepped out and began to the mess hall. He needed food, and beer, before the grand reunion.

Mathias caught sight of him leaving the room, and pushed himself off of the wall to follow after him “Hey!” he called, quickening his pace.

He hardly looked over before gruffly responding, “What now?”

“Don’t be like that,” Mathias sighed, frowning slightly at the other’s response. “I wanted to apologise, alright? I didn’t mean what I said in a bad way, but you know that goin’ against the organisation is just as well as signin’ your own death warrant.”

He stuffed his hands into his pockets, matching his steps with the smaller man’s. “What’d your dad say?”

“I have orders to stay close to you.” He shoved his hands in his pockets, “You’re to bring your things to my room. If you took his stuff, he’s going to you.”

Mathias frowned, shuffling a little closer to the door. They were trading people? That’s what it sounded like. But they were taking too long! Pulling his sleeve back, he cast a quick glance at his watch. 7 minutes had already passed. Damnit.

He’d have to ask for more time soon, and that meant putting back in his earphone. No doubt Gilbert would shout at him for it.

Gilbert was kicking things left and right. The little piece of shit knew about teamwork less than he did! That little asshole. He flung every word in the book through his head.

“Sounds okay, let them leave first. Ludwig, go out their entrance.”

“If you don’t leave soon, you’re getting blown up!”

That was his cue. As soon as Ludwig was leaving the room, Mathias purposely bumped into him, plastering a smile on his face and mumbling quick apologies. The contact had given him enough time to pocket the other’s mobile and wallet, before mumbling another apology and heading quickly for the exit.

He stuffed the earphone back in, casting glances around him to make sure he wasn’t being followed. “I’ll be out in two minutes. As soon as you see me press the trigger and get ready to run.”

“You better have some good information.” He crawled around the building and stared at Ludwig leaving the building. Something in him wanted to stop him. But he had a mission to complete. He had to stay put, watch for Mathias. Another two minutes of waiting, and he slid his finger over the button, crouching, ready to run the moment he caught sight of Mat.

Mathias came out from the warehouse, practically running already. He caught sight of the other crouched at the wall, but didn’t go over. “I’m out. Blow it up.”

He made a sprint from the wall, pressing the button. Even at his speed, he hasn’t tested how the impact would affect surrounding masses. So, he maxed his speed, hearing the large blast behind him. Once in the outskirts of the perimeter, Gilbert stopped.

“What’d you grab?”

“Come on,” Mathias laughed, keeping up a brisk pace as he began making the way back to the base. The explosion would probably attract the police, and they did not want to be caught at the scene when they arrived.

Digging into his pockets, Mathias pulled out the acquired phone and wallet, holding them in front of Gil’s face for him to see. “These are what I grabbed~”

He snatched it and opened the wallet, eyes wide in anticipation which quickly turned to shock. “You.. This is Ludwigs?”He scrunched his nose and let out a loud, unhappy groan. “Great, risked our lives for my little brothers personal items! Great, that’s just…” He froze and looked at the phone, “Well, at least one good thing out of this.”

Mathias raised an eyebrow at the comment, pulling the wallet back from the other’s hands. “..Little brother?” he questioned, replacing the items in his pockets. “‘nd what do you mean ‘our lives’? You stayed outside!”

“Look, kid, the force of the blow I caused in that building kills people inside and out, not to mention all the guards I hid from, and I was within ten feet of Ludwig.”

He turned on his heel and shoved his hands in his pockets, “And, yes. Little brother. He betrayed this organisation a long time ago.”

“Kid?” Mathias laughed. “If anythin’ I should be callin’ you kid, thank you very much. Oh, poor you, havin’ to hide from your own brother and all of the guards, whilst I was inside and could’ve been shot dead any moment.”

He hummed softly, giving a slight nod as he listened. “Well he’s stupid then, ain’t he?”

The moment he heard stupid, he set off. In his face, eyes low and face twisted as he shouted, “Don’t you ever disgrace him in front of me! Ludwig is a brilliant and respectable boy and you should consider yourself lucky to have stood in his presence!” People stared, whispering as they walked past, one mentioning how pathetic Birdie must’ve felt. His voice lowered to a mutter, “I’ll go to father, give me the stuff.” Although it seemed like a request, he snatched the items away and hurried down the hall.

Mathias blinked in surprise at the other’s outburst, raising his hands in front of his chest in defense. He could hear the other’s muttering around them, and tried to get a word in. He hadn’t meant it in a bad way, but going against their organisation was practically suicide. Sighing, he watched as Gil stormed off down the hall, and decided to wait for him to come back before trying to talk to him again.

“Father,” he growled, slamming the door behind him. The man was ready for complaints, but instead he slammed down the wallets and phone. His father snatched it, staring down at the ID.

“I understand,” he nodded. It was obvious what was going to happen next. A visit, and soon.

“We bombed the building. The deal was ended rather quickly.”
